The supposedly smart guys at Pandora don’t know what “targeted ads” mean. If you are an advertiser and wondering why the heck your advertising dollar is not yielding any return, then you should pause and think (then perhaps cancel your agreement with Pandora).
I live in New York and hear the ads related to massage therapy and concerts in Boston. What should I do with those ads? They are completely irrelevant and annoying to me. The key issue of Pandora is it is Zip Code dependent that must be manually updated.
Did the guys at Pandora assume that in US people have no mobility? Of course they move to different cities. So when I move from Boston to New York City, I must log in to Pandora to update my profile. Ask yourself, why would I log in to Pandora account to update my Zip Code? To hear relevant advertisement? Again, Pandora is a one click service which means no more clicks to log in or update your profile. As soon as I open my app in Pandora, I am good to go. This is an easy fix issue.
You would be better off spending your dollars at a local radio station so that the message at least reaches to the right audience in the area.
Update: The issue and the solution was both sent to Pandora’s executive management. They did send an email once to update zip code. Seems like they missed my point.
